Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket Fact Sheet Founded in 1900, the Club has established a long-standing tradition of caring and supportive involvement with Pawtucket’s youths and their families.

The Club’s mission states that its primary goal is helping children to succeed in life by building skills that will help them become productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Annually, more than 4,000 youths now benefit from participation in Club programs and activities – a significant increase in need from the 2,200 served in 1990.

The Club is Pawtucket’s second most active child development agency, following only the city’s school system.

The range of Club programs, activities and services extend to educational support, tutoring, mentoring, career counseling, computer training, fine arts, athletics, pre-school and after-school environments, and meals.

Youth and other programs currently run during the year at two Club-owned locations: the Alfred Elson, Jr. Branch at Moeller Place, Pawtucket and Camp Ramsbottom on Route 44, Rehoboth, Massachusetts.

More than half of the Club’s member youths come from single-parent families while 25.3% of Pawtucket’s children live at or below the federal poverty level and only 71% graduate from high school.

A yearly membership in the Club costs each family only $30 per child.

The Club’s cost for providing programs each year to one member is about $700.

The Club has alums numbering in the tens of thousands, living locally and across the country. Today, many are still involved in assisting the Club.
