If baseball is America's pastime then the Pawtucket Club is All-American. Baseball leagues began at the Club back in the 1940s and have thrived ever since. Every spring nearly 400 Club youth register for RBI and Junior RBI baseball then spend warm days - and nights on our lighted baseball field - flashing the leather and trying to smash a home run. Through collaboration with Major League Baseball, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has expanded or established baseball and fast-pitch softball programs in more than 150 communities nationwide. The RBI program, sponsored by the Pawtucket Red Sox, is not only a long-standing tradition at the Pawtucket Club, but one of excellence as well. In 2006, the Club's baseball team, comprised of local boys, 13-15 years old, was crowned champion of the RBI Northeast Regional Tournament in Trenton, New Jersey. The team went on to finish second at the 14th Annual RBI World Series, held in California. |
